The research in Economic History in our department focus on various aspects of economic growth, monetary and financial conditions, labor, reproduction, gender division of labor and the use of natural resources during different eras. We are characterized by a pluralistic approach to both theory and methodology. Here we have researchers who work with conceptual or discourse analysis, but also researchers who work with advanced econometric analyzes.

Characteristic of the department is the long-term perspective, with a focus on reconstructing historical statistics from the Middle Ages to today. We are the only department in the country that has extensive economic-historical research on medieval materials.
